Levelle Nutrition receives 2024 Non-GMO Project’s Equity Transfer
Levelle Nutrition, a Rev Member company, is the latest 2024 recipient of the Non-GMO Project’s Equity Transfer Program (ETP). Co-founded by Dr. Linda Alvarez and Stephanie Schrauth in 2021, Levelle Nutrition is a women-owned sports nutrition company empowering female athletes with fuel for their physiology. With less than 2.5% of all sports nutrition products being designed for women, Levelle was founded with the belief that women’s bodies perform better with food formulated with their physiology in mind from the start. They specialize in a sex-specific approach to create a natural, nutrient-dense energy purée that comes in various flavors to provide steady energy.
On July 16th, Levelle Nutrition became a recipient of the Non-GMO Project’s Equity Transfer Program (ETP). The Non-GMO Project is a nonprofit organization protecting the right to know what’s in your food. This mission-driven nonprofit is dedicated to collaboratively creating a retail food system that promotes and restores health in humans, communities, and the broader collective of life.
“Non-GMO is important to our brand because it is important to our customers. Our customers value clean-label natural ingredients, and nothing represents this more than the Non-GMO Project verification,” said co-founder and CEO Dr. Linda Alvarez.
Its Equitable Transfer Program (ETP) fosters equity and inclusion within the natural products industry and addresses the systemic barriers and marginalization BIMPOC-led businesses face. The ETP provides vital financial support, up to a maximum of $10,000 USD, to Black, Indigenous, multi-racial, and people of color (BIMPOC)-led brands. BIMPOC-led companies face barriers to accessing more sustainable supply chains and gaining greater product visibility, and the ETP strives to relieve these and other systemic injustices.
“It truly is an honor to be a Non-GMO Project Equity Transfer Program Grant recipient. As the co-founder of a company that addresses the needs of an often ignored customer base, I feel our work is being seen, heard, and acknowledged, and [I] am so thankful for this opportunity that the Non-GMO Project has provided,” expressed Dr. Alvarez.
With these ETP funds, Levelle will cover the cost of Non-GMO Project verification for its energy purées, and new packaging will be released later this summer.
“The Non-GMO Project’s Equity Transfer Program has allowed us to pursue the Non-GMO Project verification for our Energy Purées. While our products have always included natural and organic ingredients, as a startup, so much of our focus is on production and sales. To receive the funding to secure our Non-GMO Project Verification truly makes an impact on our growing business,” Dr. Alvarez said.
