Ithaca’s Mayor Teams Up with Children’s Reading Connection
Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick is collaborating with Rev member, Children’s Reading Connection, on a series of weekly virtual storytimes for the benefit of the community. Myrick kicked off the “Mayor Reads for All” on August 17 with a live reading from City Hall of All the Colors of the Earth, and will continue the storytime series every Monday night from 7:00 – 7:30pm on the Children’s Reading Connection Facebook page.
“I have a lifelong love of reading. From my first books with my mom, to this day, reading has expanded my mind and changed what I thought was possible for my own life,” says Myrick. The city official expressed his hope to connect with residents of Ithaca safely, while providing children the opportunity to explore their imagination and the excitement that storytelling offers.
Children’s Reading Connection is co-sponsoring the program with the Tompkins County Public Library and Buffalo Street Books. The books that will be read by the Myrick can be found at the library or at Buffalo Street Books for those who desire to read along at home.
