Introducing the Summer 2018 Rev: Ithaca Startup Works Interns
Rev: Ithaca Startup Works recently welcomed a team of new interns to work on a variety of projects for Rev and other programs within the Center for Regional Economic Advancement.
Since its inception, Rev has hired 87 interns for a broad range of projects that include, finance, marketing, communications, economic development, photography and event planning.
The interns work directly with startups and entrepreneurs in the local ara and gain hands-on experience in their respective fields.
Here are spotlights on just a few of the new interns:
Carley Rojas Avila – Cornell University//Masters in Public Administration ‘19
What is your position at Rev?
I’m the economic development fellow and my primary responsibility is assisting in grant writing and supporting the wide variety of programs.
Why Rev?
Rev makes excellent use of the resources of Ithaca College and Cornell to help support the community. I love the diversity of the programs at Rev that include students, local entrepreneurs, and community members.
Favorite Ithaca Restaurant?

Evan Montgomery – Ithaca College, Class of 2018 // Film, Photo, and Visual Arts
What is your position at Rev?
I am a multimedia intern and I am responsible for taking photos and videos that help promote Rev’s member companies. I am also excited provide an inside visual view of what goes on at Rev.
Why Rev?
I like that Rev is really looking out for the economic wellbeing of Ithaca, which is a place that I really care about. I also appreciate that I can incorporate creativity into the job.

Kylee Roberts – Ithaca College // Communication management and Design
What is your position at Rev?
I am a marketing and communications intern I help support all of the programs at Rev and work on writing articles, blogs, and social media pieces.
Why Rev?
I love the atmosphere at Rev! I appreciate the open work space that is not only for members but also all of the staff. This makes it quite easy for people to network and bounce ideas off each other.
Favorite Ithaca restaurant?
Saigon Kitchen and Ithaca Beer Co.
Katie Siple – Ithaca College // Integrated Marketing Communications
What is your position at Rev?
I am a marketing and communications intern for Rev and I am focused on writing news stories. I’m also researching media outlets and pitching news to journalists in our region and from a wide variety of industries.
Why Rev?
Rev stood out to me because I love the open space and welcoming atmosphere. I love Ithaca and being able to give back to the community while helping new startups is a big plus for me.
