Hardware Alumni Startup Named Grow-NY Finalist
Congratulations are in order for one of Rev’s rising hardware startups. Wisely Inc was recently named one of 20 finalists in the 2023 Grow-NY Food & Ag Business Competition.
Founded by Rachelle McCray, Wisely has developed a smart food storage system that reduces waste by allowing users the ability to track the time and conditions in which their perishables are stored. The system includes a Wisely Smart Sensor Disc integrated with Wi-Fi connectivity to give the user detailed and personalized insights through the Wisely Mobile Companion App.
The North Carolina-based startup was a member of the 2022 Prototyping Hardware Accelerator cohort, and recently completed their participation in the second cohort of the Manufacturing Hardware Accelerator.
In November, McCray will compete for a share of the $3 million in prize money that will be awarded at the Grow-NY Summit in Binghamton, New York. The competition attracts food and ag startups from around the globe, and finalists participate in a business development process and are paired with mentors before pitching their businesses at the Summit.
“Wisely is very excited to be included in such a stellar group of finalists. Our team applied last year, and we didn’t make it to the big stage, so this opportunity means a lot,” said McCray. “The chance to show off what Wisely’s all about during this prestigious competition is something we’re grateful for. Rev’s programs, mentors, and support helped get us here, so we are going to shoot our shot and make the most of it.”
