The STSA Hardware Accelerator Ends on Success

Last week, Thursday, August 13, the pilot summer of Southern Tier Startup Alliance (STSA) Hardware Accelerator came to an exciting end. Eight of the nine project teams participating in the Hardware Accelerator (H.A.) showcased their working prototypes and presented business pitches on Demo Day.

For 12 weeks, over the summer, the teams had been hard at work, taking a product idea from napkin to prototype, from the ideation stage through to a living, breathing example of the product.

We are so happy that we were able to host the Hardware Accelerator at our Prototyping Lab. The teams put our equipment through its paces and our tool collection grew to accommodate.

Going in, two of the nine teams, Wicked Device and hovvaX, were existing Rev member companies. They were able to give other participants unique perspective on starting a business. Wicked Device, an electronics manufacturer here in Ithaca, is now pairing up with Make Better Stuff on the next iteration of Kairos Light, the product Make Better Stuff brought to prototype at the Hardware Accelerator.
