Rev Alumni Ursa Space Supports U.S. Space Force in Japan Earthquake

Ursa Space, a Rev Alumni Stardom member, has recently completed a critical task order for the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC). In response to a devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture and subsequent tsunamis that struck Suzu City from January 1 to 3 of 2024, Ursa Space leveraged its advanced satellite insights to support the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM).

Utilizing their expertise in commercial space remote sensing data, Ursa Space provided Operational Planning Products (OPPs) that included comprehensive damage assessments and situational awareness reports. Their analysis incorporated data from electro-optical (EO), synthetic aperture radar (SAR), radio frequency (RF), and other space-based commercial imagery. This data was crucial in identifying damaged infrastructure, obstructed roads, ground shifts, and flooded areas, significantly aiding first responders and informing relief operations.

Ursa Space’s innovative platform orchestrates satellite imagery and analytic services at scale, drawing from a virtual constellation of commercial sources. Their robust data fusion capabilities ensured timely and actionable insights, showcasing their important role in enhancing situational awareness and disaster response efforts.
